Since February 2010, Franziska Schoenebeck has been Assistant Professor for Physical Organic Chemistry at ETH Zürich.
Franziska Schoenebeck was born and raised in Berlin, Germany. She studied Chemistry at the Technical University of Berlin and the University of Strathclyde in Glasgow, UK, graduating in 2004. She undertook her PhD in experimental organic chemistry at the WestCHEM Research School in Glasgow, UK, working on the synthesis, application and investigation of neutral organic electron donors (advisor: Prof. John A. Murphy). In 2008, she moved to California to work with Prof. Ken Houk at UCLA, where she was involved in computational studies of various aspects in organocatalysis, organometallic chemistry, cycloadditions and enzyme design. She applied QM, QM/MM, MD and QM/MD methods.
