Dr.
B. Bernet received his Diploma in chemistry (Dipl. Chem. ETH) in 1975
from the ETH Zürich. He did his Ph.D. studies partly at ETH Zürich and
at the Université de Fribourg under the supervision of Prof. A. Vasella
and received the Ph.D. (Dr. sc. techn. ETH) in 1979 from the ETH
Zürich. After a postdoctoral stay in the group of Prof. P.
Deslongchamps at the Université de Sherbrooke, PQ Canada, he was
appointed Oberassistent in the group of Prof. A. Vasella at the Organic
Chemistry Institute at the University of Zürich in 1981. In 1993, he
followed Prof. A. Vasella to the ETH Zürich and was appointed
Scientific Adjoint at the Laboratory of Organic Chemistry. After the
emeritation of Prof. A. Vasella in fall 2008, he joined the research
group of Prof. F. Diederich at ETH Zürich.
Research interests: conformational analysis and hydrogen bonding
