Gruppe Bode

Research in our group focuses on the development of new organic reactions and their application to contemporary problems in the synthesis of a wide variety of complex structures including small molecules, peptides, biomolecules, and materials. We seek to identify new pathways that can have a transformative effect on the preparation of substrances for which there are few other methods. In conjunction with these efforts, we explore the mechanism of the reactions, the analysis of complex molecules, high throughput screening approaches, biological imaging, and molecular design.

Specific projects that we are currently involved with include:

• Development of a novel chemoselective ligation reaction for peptide and protein synthesis
• Catalytic and enantioselective reactions with chiral N-heterocyclic carbenes
• Synthesis, study, and applications of shapeshifting organic molecules
• Identification of new ligation reactions
