Group Wennemers
Research in the Wennemers group focuses on the development of small molecules for functions that are fulfilled in nature by large macromolecules. Aside from practical applications, a major emphasis is on the understanding of their properties on a molecular level.

Current research topics include:

• Asymmetric catalysis with peptides and other bioinspired catalysts
• Biological chemistry: cell penetrating peptides, tumor targeting, selective protein and RNA interactions
• Supramolecular aggregates and synthetic materials, e.g. synthetic collagen
• Nanoparticles: development of templates for the controlled formation of metal nanoparticles
  

This research is characterized by a multidisciplinary approach utilizing organic synthesis, physical-organic and molecular biology studies.
